God's Creative Workmanship

Psalm 102:25 declares, “Of old hast thou laid the foundation of the earth: and the heavens are the work of thy hands.” The heavens and the earth did not just happen; God created them (Gen. 1:1). “For every house is builded by some man; but he that built all things is God” (Heb. 3:4). Many scientists say the earth and all things therein evolved, but which of them has ever seen evolution occur as they assert? To any evolutionist the LORD would say as He said to Job: “Where was thou when I laid the foundations of the earth? Declare, if thou hast understanding (Job 38:4). Do scientists know everything? Have they not been wrong in some matters when testifying against defendants in criminal trials?

Scripture teaches God created the universe by His word. “By the word of the LORD were the heavens made. . .” (Ps. 33:6). “But couldn't He have created all things by evolution? Let Scripture answer: “For he spake, and it was done; he commanded, and it stood fast” (Ps. 33:9). “But do we not have to take such statements by faith? Of course we do, but do not those who believe in evolution take the word of scientists who advocate this theory? Faith is always taking the word of someone. Would we rather believe God or man? Since no evolutionist has ever seen his theory actually occurring, I will believe God and His word.

God also created man in His own image (Gen. 1:26, 27). As God's creature, man is accountable to God. Evolution has become a popular philosophy in modern times because it supposedly removes any accountability of man to a god which may or may not exist. Notwithstanding the claims of many evolutionists, Scripture states, “So then every one of us shall give account of himself to God” (Rom. 14:12). Jesus Christ, not evolution, will be our only refuge in that day.
